Payton and Lauren rode together at the Matrix Track Cup and had a very good weekend. Payton did work to help protect Lauren. And at the end of the day Payton did something totally out of character. She smiled and laughed.

Payton has been training and is preparing to go on the road with the team as soon as school lets out. Once the schedule if finalized we will post an update.

3/26/12 – Payton had a short workout tonight.  Tomorrow is her last soccer game.  This will make training easier during the week.

3/25/12 – Payton slept in and then did short but hard work out.

3/24/12 – Payton spent most of the day working at the Velodrome to help get ready for the racing to resume in 2 weeks.  After a day of manual labor Payton rode for about 2 hours with Gunnar.

3/23/12 – Payton had a soccer game and then saw a movie with her friends.

3/22/12 – Payton took her mom to the Stars Hockey game for her birthday.  Before leaving they stopped at Mad Duck for cake.

3/21/12 – Payton completed her first track workout of 2012.  It was mostly short efforts giving her an easy transition back to riding a fixed gear.

3/20/12 – Off Day!!!

3/19/12 – Payton flew home from California.  It was a tough but fun weekend.

3/17/12 – Payton raced in the road race.  It rained the entire race.  At time the rain came down so hard she could barely see the riders ahead of her.  The stage was so tough that 83 girls started and only 41 made the time cut.  Payton was outside the limit so ending her first crack at the San Dimas Stage Race.

3/16/12 – This is Payton’s first day of racing at San Dimas.  It is a uphill time trial.  The minimum grade is 5%.  It kicks up to over 10% in sections.  Payton is not happy.  She prefers the flat and fast stages.

3/14/12 – Day two of the road trip is from Austin to Phoenix.  Payton, Lauren and Chris are stopping at Anna’s house for the night before leaving for LA in the morning.  After a long day of driving they had pizza for dinner.

3/13/12 – Payton left for the San Dimas Stage Race.  The first stop is Austin.  Payton is riding down with Lauren and a car full of bikes and wheels.

3/12/12 - Payton has been packing for her trip to Los Angeles to race in the San Dimas Stage race.  The weekend will be fun but tough.  She will be racing against the who’s who of women’s cycling in the US.  She is leaving Tuesday and will fly back on Monday.

2/26/12 Payton has started he 2012 racing season by riding Mineral Wells Stage Race last weekend and Walburg and Pace Bend this weekend. She is still adjusting to the speed of racing with the W12 field. We are currently looking at the logistics to get her to the San Dimas Stage Race in CA over spring break.

2/21/12 – FCS / Rouse has the team presentation party in conjunction with the team camp.

Team Camp

01/08/12 - The training is ongoing. We are a little under 2 weeks away from the first race this season. She will be racing in a field that combines a lot of categories so there will be chaos at the beginning of the race.

12/26/11 - Payton has started the countdown to her first race.  She will be racing in Megan’s Race in Copperas Cove, TX on January 21.

12/15/11 – Payton lost a dear friend today.  Megan Baab was struck by a car when training and pronounced dead upon her arrival at the hospital.  Megan was 18 and just finished her first semester for college. Training has been suspended for a few days.

12/2/11 – Nothing really excited happened this past month but training has continued and started picking up momentum.  Details with her new (old) team FCS/Rouse have been finalized and list of potential races developed.  Over the next couple months the schedule will be finalized and the logistics planned.

10-30-11 Training continues.  Payton is enjoying the off season getting to spend time with friends.

10/19/11 - The site will be updated this weekend. A few big projects at work have gotten in the way of the important stuff.

10/10/11 - Payton rode in her first real cross race this past Saturday. We still need to make some adjustment to get it just right. She will try again tomorrow at the Irving crit.

Cross Race

cross race

10/3/11 – Payton did the Irving Bible Church ride and had a strong showing.  She set a 5 second and 20 minute personal record.  The ride was approximately 24 miles and at a pace a little over 20 MPH.   Tomorrow is a short track mountain bike race followed by a cyclocross race.

10/2/11 – Another training week has been completed.  Payton ended the week with a long ride both Saturday and Sunday.  Payton’s next week will also be challenging.  Monday is the Irving Bible Church ride, Tuesday in the Irving Cross Race, Wednesday is 25 miles, Thursday is the Texas Rangers game, and Friday she is off.  Saturday will be another cross race at Mineral Wells, TX, followed by a long ride on Sunday.

10/1/11 – Payton’s cross bike is finally ready.  Thanks Mad Duck for helping us pull this together, www.madducksports.com.   We only need to do a final adjustment to get the fit dialed in.  She will have a chance to test it at speed Tuesday night at the TNX Cross in Irving TX.  We know we will need to cut the steerer tube, hopefully everything else is spot on.

9-27-11 Payton went riding with Little Chris and felt good on the bike.  She has a higher intensity workout tomorrow but it’s shorter so it should all balance out.

9/25/11 – Today was a good day on the bike.  Payton rode 2 ½  hours with Troy, Little Chris, and Ryan.  Then we all headed to Baja.  After that Payton came home and put together a garter to give to Jake for Homecoming.  I can’t show a photo until after the game so Jake will be surprised.  I can only describe it as ridiculous.

9/24/11 – Payton didn’t ride but did make it to the craft stores to get stuff for Homecoming.  I am not sure if any of us know when it is but she will be ready.  The Mean Parents had a night out at the Foreigner and Journey concert.

9/23/11 - A link to Core Matrix has been added. For those of you in the Downtown Dallas area, this is a great option for a workout. They do a lot of things but the Mean Girl Compound recommends their Traditional Pilates classes. Don can customize the workout to meet any special needs for injury rehabilitation.

Mean Mom is the diving force behind Meangirl. Don’t let her size fool you, she is small but powerful. Most of all, she is “practically perfect in every way” and loved by the whole Mean Girl and Mad Duck family. She is more than a mother, she is an amazing example and inspiration for Payton not to settle for what life gives her, but instead to work until she is happy with what she has earned. Troy never settled and finally hit one out the park with her wonderful husband Chris. She fought with Cancer and beat it's ass, earned a Ph.D., runs marathons, rides centuries, drives a Hummer with 34" tires and isn't afraid to get it dirty, cares about her students and does everything she can to help them even if it means giving up her time off during nights and weekends, and most of all she's Mean Dad's best friend and is the strength that holds the Mean Girl Compound together.

9/23/11 - The galleries are starting to be added to the new site.

9/22/11 – Another week of training complete.  Payton is taking Friday night off to go to the Colleyville / Trinity game.  Payton is starting to settle into the different style of workouts.  The first goal of next year is to finish the Tour of the Gila in New Mexico next April.  We are still working on the details for the rest of the year.

If we can get her bike complete, Payton will be racing at the cross race in Mineral Wells Oct. 8th.  She will only have a week to get the bike dialed in.  She’s raced with less preparation in the past.

9/13/11 – Payton was back at Texas Motor Speedway training.  As usual, there was plenty of wind.  She said she felt good.  A few weeks into training with Christian she is starting to get more settled into the new program.  We also have worked out most of the glitches with the equipment changes.

9/12/11 – During out break Verizon made a change to their hosting rules and I had to find a new place for the site.  I finally got the site moved over and I am still troubleshooting to find the glitches.  I know there is a problem with the photo page.  Please e-mail any issues you discover.

8/28/11 – After a brief hiatus to allow everyone to recharge their batteries there is big news in the Mean Girl Racing camp.  After 3 amazing years with Suzie, Payton will start being coached by Christian Williams on September 1st.  During Payton and Suzie’s time together they produced 2 National Championships and 7 State Championships.  We will always be thankful for all Suzie has done for Payton.

It was a very difficult decision but we believe Christian’s program is more suited to her future goals.  Payton will continue to race and train on the track, but she is going to increase her focus on road racing.  Unlike the past 7 weeks, we will keep you updated on the transition.

This past weekend Payton returned to racing at the Hotter ‘n Hell.  It lived up to its name by being the hottest event in its 30 year history.  The temperature was 109 degrees on the thermometer however both Payton’s and Troy’s bike computers read temps of 119 on the road.  The family made a decision it was better to live to fight another day and it wasn’t worth risking Payton’s health by pushing too hard at this event.  She went out and got solid workouts in all 3 days but shut it down before becoming dehydrated or overheated.  Next weekend is St. Louis.  We are not sure if Payton will have any form, but it will be a fun weekend seeing the other ½ of the family.

7/10/11 - Payton rounded out the weekend with a amazing finish. She finished 5th in the overall and won a National Champion jersey in the Women's 10 - 18 Team Sprint.

7/9/11 - Payton had another great day at the track. She finished 3rd in the 500 meter time trial. Adding another medal to her collection. The medal count is now two with two more events on Sunday.

7/8/11 - We all can breath easier. Payton won her first track national medal of 2011. She finished 5th in the scratch race. Tomorrow is the 500 meter time trial.

7/7/11 - Today was Payton's first day of racing at Track Nationals. She placed 6th in Women 15-16 Flying 200. She was the top finishing 15 year old. In the sprints she finished 6th also. Friday she has the 6km Scratch Race.

7/5/11 One day until Track Nationals. Two days until Payton races.

Payton went to Lourdes hour early and got ready for the morning practice.  Payton worked out for a couple hours fine tuning a few things and staying loose.  After practice she hung out at the registration until heading home around 4:00.  She decided she needed to clean her room and went to work.  She hasn’t been seen lately and we are not sure where to start looking.

7/4/11 - 2 Days until Track Nationals. 3 days until Mean Girls first race.

Payton was up and out of the house early. Rachel Byus picked her up to take her on a social ride to celebrate our independence. The ride ended up being 44 miles with a stop at the coffee shop to refuel. It was a nice break to spend time on the bike without it being a training session. The rest of the day is an opportunity to kick the feet up and relax. Payton met Jacob to go to dinner, a movie and then watch fireworks.

7/3/11 – Payton went to the track today to practice with her team sprint partner for Nationals.  Chloe is from T-Town and rides for Young Medalists.  Another surprise was seeing Jacqueline Denny.  This will be the first track event that she will have a team mate at the event.  Sadly they are in different age categories and won’t race together.
